I should be on site mid afternoon Thursday. Setting up the tent in the heavy camp area for Chief and somebody else for Friday night. They will have to squeeze me in Saturday night.

Matt, we've been doing a poor job getting pictures.
We need to get a group picture of the jeeps and Gerty with crew/drivers Friday afternoon. Also the rear detachment.
Saturday AM when the platoon is at full strength we'll get a picture of the Plt HQ element, the FO Team, each Mortar Team and then each of the 3 squads - even if we have to rotate them off the line.
Bring your camera.

The Grunge Look
The C&S has decided to let those who wish to participate in - as Jay says - a Grunge Look.
For those who want to be the good soldier and have the "shave at least ever other day" then just show up Friday with your usual shaved face.
If you want to participate in the grunge "I've been in this damn foxhole a week now" look these are the rules - no pre grown beards, no Fu Manchu mustaches, no Goatee thingies.
Clean shave Thursday or Friday the week before the event. What grows is what you bring to the event that Friday afternoon.
Do you have what it takes.

Everybody make sure to bring your E Tool.
Other than digging a foxhole you may need it to cut a trail.
Depending on where we get located on the front we may be placed in an area with thick undergrowth.
We may need to cut some basic paths through the undergrowth so we can have quick movement between positions. Not that hard but a little tedious.

Getting down to the meat of things on the FB Event page for Enfield.
It's all about impressions, honoring somebody's ancestor, etc - but my main thrust is we (the company) need to be a unit - not just a bunch of small reenactor companies running around together.
That's why we are organizing along platoon lines - with a few additions.
Most are worried because of their unit specific impressions.
Nobody is going to be stopped from attending the event because of the uniform they are wearing. But it doesn't take much to alter you main impression in a little way to change to another impression. By the winter of 44/45 uniforms of the different units were beginning to blend together. The 43's were coming into wide distribution but 41 jackets were still out there. Wool overcoats and tanker jackets were floating around.
It is easy to change from a winter Airborne impression to a generic winter leg impression by dropping your Airborne 43 pants and wearing wool pants.
So - those that can try and make the called impression the best you can. If you don't have it wear what you got. I got no problem with tacking on different division patches.

***Don't panic - wear what you got***
By the winter of 44/45 the front line soldier look, both airborne and leg, was beginning to blend into a somewhat eclectic blend of uniforms mostly because it was cold. Our platoon impression will be that of a front line pretty generic platoon. Some at the Company CP wish to represent the 84th ID.
Many of the newer guys (and some of the old ones) have limited options as to uniforms so for those guys wear what you got.
For the others who want to give it a go I'll list the options in descending order. All the web gear, etc remains the same so no problems in that area.
Patches - 1st, if you want dig up a 84th Patch to put on your 43 jacket - 2nd, no patch - 3rd, just wear the 82nd patch.
Jacket - 43 jacket/wool overcoat, 41 jacket (lined), Tanker jacket, HBT jacket, 42 jacket, 42R jacket. There are other odd jackets out there. I just listed the main ones.
Pants - 43 pants (no pockets), wool pants, 43 pants with pockets, HBT pants, 42 pants, 42R pants.
Boots - Double Buckles, Jump Boots, Service Shoes with or without leggings.
The platoon leader (Frank) and I will be wearing 43 jacket with 84th patch and wool pants with boots.
It would be nice to see as many as possible get that look for during the day. If it's real cold remember you can pull the 43, HBT or 42 pants over the wool pants.
But
***Don't panic - wear what you got***

Possible - depending on work schedules - Woods, Jordan, Samples, Hyde and Justice.
Attached to Company HQ - Gerty/Phillbeck Driver & Chief Meyer Gunner, Strain w/jeep, Kalamja w/jeep, Hazen w/jeep.
