The chow count and payment is coming up by the 19th. For those of you who plan on eating you'll need to sound off and get your payment in. No problem if you want to fend for yourself - we just need to know.

ATTENTION: S/Sgt Bradd Craver and Pfc. Bryce Bridgers have late war I. D. cards ready. Pick them up from Chief Meyer when signing in on the C Company roster at the Enfield tactical.

To get in the mood for the upcoming tactical review this 30 minute clip on how a squad maneuvers in the attack.
It's what you guys should be doing.

It's what you guys should be doing. Can confirm, this video series is extremely helpful in understanding WWII rifle squad tatics.

This was posted on the unit Facebook page but I also wanted to include it here as there are a few people who don't get on Facebook as often. There will most likely be a few slight changes to this plan as this is the first time we have tried this, but this is the general plan.
As the Enfield tactical draws closer, there have been some questions regarding the medical aspect. At Jon Allison's request, we have created a wound card system and plan to put it into effect at the tactical. There will be 4 categories with color-coordinated index cards- slightly wounded (blue cards), walking wounded (green cards), severely wounded (brown cards), and KIA (red cards). The slightly wounded require only a quick bandage and the individual will be immediately returned to action. The walking wounded will take themselves to the aid station and remain there in time-out for a specific period of time. The severely wounded will be evacuated to the aid station using whatever means of transport we have available to us onsite. KIAs, per the rules sent out, will remain where they dropped and remove their helmets.
The medics and German sanis will carry these cards in their pockets and draw one at random when summoned, and perform the treatment specified. This is to help make the conditions in the field more realistic (no more taking gut shots and then jumping up to start sprinting again) and also to give the medics experience in treating a variety of wounds. I will be checking behind them to make sure they are doing their job correctly. At some point on Sunday I will take the field as a shooter and become a casualty myself to test whether the medical personnel are able to implement what they have learned without being able to ask me for direction. This is the only "medical demo" we have planned. While everyone is asked to abide by the wound card system, no one will be required to partake in anything extensive or excessively time-consuming, nor will they be required to use any fake blood (unless you just really want to, in which case we will be happy to oblige). I understand that a majority of people dont attend tacticals with the intent to spend a lot of time sitting in time-outs, so I have tried to come up with a system that will allow better authenticity while not dragging everyone out of the fight for long periods of time. If there are any questions, please feel free to ask me directly.

It looks to be typical NC winter weather. Wet and chilly. At least bring extra socks, underwear and shirts at a minimum and something warm to sleep in. Those without big canvas expect to make do with your pup tents - either single or get with a buddy. The Chief and I are bringing our flies for the kitchen and CP/briefing area/dining area/lounge.

I'm trying to attend. I will bring a large amount of cut firewood if I make it.

The "Great Combat Zone Chili Cook Off" between the CO and 1st Sgt will be Saturday night. Some of you have had my Chili. Can the CO claim the title of "C/505th Best Chili Cooker"? Will I come out on top? We'll have to wait and see. Toppings are available for both so your judging will be on the base flavor.

I hope you men are going to keep the temps down a bit. Last time this old man experienced a chili cook off it was on shift at the FD. You needed an SCBA to enter the kitchen or you could have lung damage.

Hot sauce and Jalapenos are side items to be used to zip it up to the eater's heat level.
