Enfield Tactical September 11-13.
Troops, we are coming up on two months out for the Enfield Tactical. Commanders are in the planning stage at this time.
We need to know if you are planning on attending. Sound off here if you are a member of the 505th and are coming. No chit chat - that will be deleted.

Cautionary Alert!
We are experiencing a perfect storm of problems with this Enfield Tactical.
Pretty sure our numbers are down to about 20 at this time.
PROBLEM #1 Steve Earley and Mongo are trying to work out a way for the Mess Trailer to be on site. Steve is not able to attend and Mongo is an EMS worker so his schedule can change at any moment. If Mongo makes it only he and Ronnie will be cooking. This assumes Ronnie is a go.
PROBLEM #2 Darrell has trailer #1. Cindy (his wife) is still recovering from some serious surgery. Also, one of his older dogs is not doing well. At this point Cindy can't drive so any emergency has to be handled by Darrell.
In case you don't know Louis Jenkins will undergo back surgery on 13th August. Recovery time is estimated at 2 months.
So, where does that leave us at this moment?
If neither trailer can make it I will get water containers and a couple of flies from trailer #1 and put them in Bradd's trailer. Food is a whole other issue. Without the Mess Trailer everything becomes more complicated. On top of that is the Covid safety issue with preparing for buffet style serving of food. To say I am uncomfortable with this is an understatement.
We are 5 weeks out to this event which is attracting units from 7 other states.
Possible Solutions: Sleeping will be under flies or in one man pup tents, or in the field (foxhole). with no trailers Food: Everyone fends for themselves. Unit provides water, coffee...
We do need an accurate count of troopers attending. I believe this list is both on the Forum and LHG FB site.
As of this moment the entire C & S will be on site.
That is all. Captain Cachia, CO, Company C 505th PIR

My recommendation is that no matter what (trailer or no) we go light on what the mess provides. The chili dinner went great at the last Enfield, and while that may be a bit warm for a september event, simple hotdogs and fixins should be fine for dinnerSat night. K-Rats in the field for lunch, and something equally simple for breakfast Sat morning. Worse to worse for Friday night someone coming in can bring in Pizza from the outside world. I imagine things won't go long Sunday as experience suggests a very active hot Saturday, lack of blanks and a hard night of revelry Sat night contributes to most folks being uninterested in Sunday play. Egg sammiches (with Jims favorite Spam) on white bread for Breakfast will suffice for powering through breaking down flies and heading home.
Speaking of Flies, given the heat, I think that will be a fine solution - I see no reason to break out wall tents, much less the squaddie.
