I suggest we prepare a list of Airborne veterans who have passed away to honor at colors each day. A list of at least 6 veterans each for both days. Name, rank, unit, theater of operation, and date of passing. Anzio veterans would be appropriate for the February event and there were a lot of them. I will assist in training anyone who would like to do colors - we will need 4 details for the two days, and an officer to command. I would like to propose 1st Lt. Charles R. Scoggin, First Special Service Force, KIA Anzio, 2 February 1944

Was going to include family of unit members for this first event. We can do those who gave their lives at Anzio also. I am open to any names people would like to suggest. I was going to put my Sgt. in charge of the detail with myself commanding and reading the names. Matt, would love to have you as part of this because I know this is a passion project of yours also.

I am placing Sgt. Croft, 101 Recon in charge of the flag raising with Varnes working with him. We would all prefer volunteers for this, but we will draft people if we have to. Also, as Matt stated, we need people to train to do this, so the more the merrier. The flag lowering will be much less formal but also critical. Also with regards to veterans who we will raise the flag in honor of, this is a constantly growing list that we will use for events throughout the year. For this first Waxhaw event, I want to focus as a priority on those who we have ties to, either as family or tied directly to our impressions. It is important that we remember the MEN and WOMEN whose stories we are telling just by putting on the uniform.
