DONE--Southern Pines Veterans Parade - Nov 4/5

Troopers!

Dues to the awesome job y'all did at Carthage we have been asked to repeat our displays and participate in a huge parade in downtown Southern Pines. I have talked extensively with parade organizers and they are willing to pay some expenses just like Carthage. Money left over from Carthage went into our General Fund.

This will be no typical parade. Ft. Bragg is in full support and is pulling out all the stops on this. Let me give you some idea. The parade will have the 82nd ABD Color Guard, Band, 307th troopers numbering about 100, all kinds of vehicles from Bragg, veterans in convertibles, then us with Gerty, Beast Master, Lucky II, and maybe Short Round with as many of us in 42Rs riding or guarding. Bands from local schools and JROTC. The parade route is only a mile but we will need to line up by 0830 that Saturday. Those arriving Friday night will set up displays to be manned after the parade.
There will be a memorial at 1300 that we will stand to for. More info coming! In case you can't tell I'm excited!

One more thing Troopers. It has been suggested that we have the Annual Meeting at 1700 here!

I am stunned by the units attendance at this event! It will truly be a unique event with us in stark contrast to todays active army paratroopers and vehicles.
The organizers are even trying to lock us in for next year. Stay tuned boys!

So where are we setting up Friday evening?

In Carthage at the Memorial or at the downtown park in Southern Pines on the parade route?

Setup displays at the Memorial in Carthage. There was a compromise for this year. We setup on the Memorial grounds but participate in the parade. It is going to be a logistical trick to line up for the parade around 0800, parade starts at 1000, over at 1100 then load up and get to memorial by 1200! Displays: 1300-1700 max. Crowd thins we pack up.
