US Army Ground Forces will once again be attending War In the Pacific at Pamplin Park. This is the third year for this event which is the only PTO only event on the East Coast. We will again be portraying 11th Airborne Division during the Los Banos Raid, February 23, 1945. We again welcome any 505 troopers to join us again this year. This year the event will include a period movie night, a tavern night (hosted by our Soviet “allies”), morning flag raising and weapons demo at the amphitheater area.
511th and 11th Airborne historian and author Jeremy Holm will also be attending on speaking on the unit’s history. Hopefully his newest book on the history of the 11th Airborne will be available by then.
Uniforms will be HBTs, combat boots or jump boots, plain M1 helmets (no nets or markings) and HBT cap. Web gear is also simple with pistol or cartridge belts, canteens (either one or 2), first aid pouch (jungle FAP optional), ammo pouches (carbine if so armed). Folding e-tools, combat suspenders and musette bags optional. Bring your canvas if you have any or you can sleep under our unit’s large fly. Mess will also be provided by S/Sgt Frank.
