Rack Grades just opened up @$650 each on CMP page. These are generally recognized as field guns but perfect for Reenactment displays and tacticals. Usually mixed part kits with stocks bearing stamps, arsenal numbers etc. This is the first time in almost a year that CMP has had anything in inventory. If anyone is paying attention these old girls have gone way up in value the past couple years. thecmp.org/sales-and-service/m1-garand/

I have been told from a reliable source that these are ROUGH and may need a bit of work for them to be shootable. May be a deal, may be a project. Just don’t expect a nice display gun or an accurate shooter.

From my buddy that just received two rack grade M1 Garand. As Capt. stated these aren't collector Garand but given the public often handles then for photos or that they are taken on tacticals and fired significantly these fit the bill. Further feedback is that these guns are shooters ....I have a rack grade that fuctioned fine out of the box with 2-3" groups. He seems to have experienced the same. As indicated by the CMP description they will need to be cleaned and lubed prior to use but that's routine maintenance. One of his had some surface rust he had to scrub down but again it's called cleaning your weapon
