Troopers of Charlie Company 505th PIR!
The American Legion of Carthage, NC, is celebrating their 100th year of existence!
This will take place at their building in Carthage on the 18th June from 1100 until 1700.
They have now offered C/505th $1,000 for our treasury if as many of us as possible can show up that day!
To say the least our treasury could use the money.
Bruce, Karl, Robert, Bradd, Andrew, Daniel, Joe, Chief, Aaron, Ben, Adam and I have already committed to doing this, but, we need way more guys!
Did I mention there is free beer from a local brewery!
Please sound off if you can attend.
By the way, you guys that are like 5 hours away I don't expect y'all to attend since it is a one day affair.

PS: We are allowed to camp FRIDAY NIGHT, 17 June!! Chief and I will be camping!

Let me list some info on this event.
1. Location: 350 Legion Hut Road, Carthage, NC
2. American Legion Post 12, Commander, Phil Vandercook - cell-253-279-4178
3. Setup: Allowed Friday for those staying overnight!
4. Event technically starts Saturday by 1000! And ends at 1700.
5. Legion Hall is available for our use.
6. Uniform: Varied to show progression of uniforms. Bring: helmets, weapons, web
gear, canteen, mess kit.
7. Food - working on it. Beans and Franks for Saturday lunch.
8. The unit treasury will receive $1,000.

Depending on who's going on Friday I probably can do that too. When I told them ( her) I didn't need the 11th anymore and was gonna swap it for the 18th it was No you can't do that. OK now they need a fork lift operator. I'll get another job that one sucked anyway

I'm considering this event but a 4+ hour drive to get home Saturday night may be a deal killer. Put me down as a possible. I'll confirm one way or the other soon.

There is a food truck on site for event so could be on your own to save logistics.

From Legion Post Commander:
For Friday dinner I recommend Casa Garcia which is right up the road on 15/501.
For breakfast there is another place called Pete's, more of a family dinner type place.
However, if you want to bring and cook your own food you are welcome to use our kitchen, pots, pans, plates etc.
The food truck will show up at 1100 and our opening ceremony will start at 1130 which will last about 30 min.

Be prepared to conduct a weapons demonstration as well. We may do some squad maneuvers with vehicle support if allowed.

Chief and I are going to do Chief's Breakfast Biscuits Saturday morning and Beans and Franks in buns for lunch. Donations accepted.
I have carbine and ammo for demo. My M1 is .308 adapted as is my 03.
With Aaron we are at 11!

Bruce says Am. Legion Commander recommends Pete's for good sit down breakfast. We are going to take him up on that since Chief and I get up at crack of dawn. So, breakfast at Pete's for those that do breakfast. Coffee will be available until 1300. We will handle lunch as described above.
