Pamplin Park, War in the Pacific - September 25 & 26

Pamplin Park outside of Richmond Virginia is once again hosting a War in the Pacific living history event this year.  Last year was the first year for this event and despite the low numbers (Covid plus torrential downpour) the museum was thrilled with the attendance and eagerly agreed to have us back this year.
101st Airborne will again redeploy as 11th Airborne in the Philippines focusing on the Los Banos Raid in February 1945.  Uniform is HBTs (trousers and shirt), jump boots or combat (double-buckle) boots, helmets (plain, no markings or nets) and HBT caps (parachute patch sewn on the side optional).  Definitely an event that you can travel light to.  Our unit mess will be on site providing chow for the weekend.  Event organizer has also decided to cut the event at 1pm on Sunday to allow people time to break down and travel home.  Any 505, friends and allies are welcome to fall in with us for this event.

HBT's were a work uniform during the war, though it often became a combat uniform as it was light weight and fairly durable. Used a lot in the PTO, though also common in the ETO.

505th is a no go for this event. We will be at Toccoa.

Understand that members can attend events as individuals. It's just not a supported as a 505th formal event.

508th is a no go as well. Our main focus at this point is Toccoa. Saw some chatter on FB event page possible date changes to August. Great event. keep us updated.

This event is one weekend before Toccoa. We know that numbers are going to be down because of Toccoa and Warbirds Over the Beach being one week later. We are also going head to head with the very large Tank Farm open house in Northern VA. Despite this, the park has already said they want to continue this event next year. The event will be in August next year which will avoid the over-crowded schedule issue and also return it to being more directly tied to V-J Day.
