This subject comes up every so often - Boots and polish. Remember, they were supposed to polish them every day they were in garrison or a camp. When you give them a good number of coats of polish you begin to get them to where they would have been when they went into combat. I purchased a new set of Corcorans - and all the boots in the pictures are Cocorans as well. The first picture is of the new boots fresh out of the box as I was trying them on. The second picture shows them on the left after a coat of snow seal and 5 coats of polish. You can see they are already starting to transition from the lighter reddish brown to the darker brown. The middle boots are my older pair that are well on the way to the dark brown. For folks who talk about the "black" look of their boots I have included the third set which is black. Sitting next to the brown ones you can see there is no comparison. So take a look at your boots and if they are still reddish brown or russet get a few more coats of polish on them. You boots will love you for it. Attachments:

As a side note - I will be now looking for pictures of boots that have a good base coat that then gets trashed after a couple of weekends of wet events.
Get a good dark base coat by Lugoff - it's usually wet then - and you're on your way to Enfield. Due for rain then.

Good the new laces from this site for my jump boots.
They look kind of funky in the picture but look good in the boots.
