Next major event for 101 ABD HQ is MTA (Military Thru the Ages) at Jamestown, VA, March 21-22, 2020. This is an invitation only timeline event. We are portraying 101st AB on the eve (less than 7 days) of D-Day. This will include parachute demos, extensive communications setup (including with another unit on site), and medical including both 326 AMC parachutists and Army nurses preparing to receive D-Day casualties. We also hope to stage a weapons demo on the drill field unlike any previous weapons demo.
Additionally you will get to see some of the best units around portraying Roman Legions, Middle Ages, American Revolution, Napoleonic Wars, Zulu Wars, WWI, WWII, Vietnam and many other eras. A comparative artillery demo will be held covering 400+ years of artillery in Virginia.
Any members of C/505 who wish to join us and wear the "Screaming Eagle (or chicken)" for the weekend are welcome. Due to the requirements of this event, I MUST have you on the participant list NLT February 6. As has been noted elsewhere this is a JUDGED event and strict authenticity guidelines will be in place and adhered to throughout the event. A uniform guide will be release on or about February 1 to give everyone plenty of time to adjust or acquire (borrow) necessary uniform elements. 101st HQ mess will feed us during the event and the site provides a catered dinner after hours on Saturday. Thanks.
K. Frank, Captain
101st ABD HQ

Have about 15+ interested participants at this point. Medical will be a sizeable portion with 326th A/B Medical Company (parachute platoon) and 50th Field Hospital (nurses). Majority of the others will be division HQ paratroopers. Every paratrooper will get a chance to get fully kitted out for the public (Mae West, reserve chute, main chute, full web gear and weapon or medical kit). Forms are on unit FB group page. Deadline if February 6 for paperwork so I can guarantee you being on the list.

I was reading the comments on Facebook. As far as correct and preferred what is the optimal for an entrenching tool. A shortened T-Handle or a 1943 ? I have both I just need a cover for the '43. Which one would be the one most are going to have for MTA ?

Which one would be the one most are going to have for MTA ? The 101st used both in Normandy so either would be correct. I think we will probably have a fairly even mix of the two. I also have a spare ‘43 cover.

We are currently tracking 17 people for this event plus my 2 boys possibly. This includes one member of 508 and 2 members of 505. That is still a small portion of the over 500 reenactors who will be participating in this weekend.

While the official deadline has passed, I am able to slide a couple people in at the 11th hour. If anyone still would like to participate let me know ASAP. Detailed uniform, equipment and unit history guide available to prepare you for the impression.

The cancellation of MTA was definitely a blow to all involved. We have been advised that we are already on the official invite list for next year and this will be on our calendar as soon as the official dates are released.
