2020 Schedule - 101st ABD HQ

Below is the current schedule for 101 HQ.  Many new opportunities have opened up for us as a unit, especially in Virginia.  Some events you will notice are also on the C/505 calendar.  We look forward to the opportunities for our units to continue to work side-by-side.  As is our unit policy, we also welcome our C/505 friends to "fall in" with us at events as well.

A few events of note:
1.  Military Thru the Ages, Jamestown.  MTA is a (the) premier timeline event with many of the best units on the east coast portraying Roman Empire through Vietnam.  There are more than a few encampments that will surprise you ("somebody does THAT?!").  A few of us got to participate last year with an established unit and the experience was phenomenal.  We are greatly honored to be invited to participate independently this year.  Our encampment will be that of the 101st Airborne in England approximately D-minus-10 for Normandy.  This is a judged event and the standard is high.  Happy to include any 505 members who wish to join us for this.
2.  August 15-16 in Richmond, VA.  A V-J Day event (on VJ 75).  We will trade our wools and 43s in for HBTs (but keep our jump boots) to portray 11th Airborne (including Recon Platoon) involved in the Raid on Los Banos.  Paratroopers, Recon, medical, civilian internees and hopefully Filipino guerillas will all be portrayed.
3.  NAS Oceana airshow, September 18-20, Virginia Beach, VA.  NAS Oceana is the only east coast master jet base and is home to almost all of the east coast naval fighter squadrons.  Their annual airshow is the largest Navy airshow in the country, drawing over 250,000 guests.  This year, the airshow coordinator wants the involvement of vehicles, aircraft and reenactors for a 75th Anniversary victory celebration.  We are hoping for many different units and the WWII ADT to be involved.

January 18 - Medical and Comms Training Day

January 24-26 - Enfield, NC. Wacht un Rhein Tactical.

    Private tactical event with NC and VA units. Medical and Recon elements with mess section support.

February - Training Day - TBD

    Additional training for Military Thru the Ages (MTA). Medical, comms, kit inspection. Possibly joint training with 1st WAC, Able Co.

March 21-22 - Jamestown, VA. Military Thru the Ages *MAJOR EVENT* ***INVITED****

April - TBD. Couple things being pursued. Updates when available. *** Possibly Prelude to Invasion - Bedford, VA **

May 15-17 - Virginia Beach, VA. Warbirds Over the Beach. *MAJOR EVENT*

May 23 - Virginia Beach, VA. Pungo Strawberry Festival. Parade and display. Probably be VE Day Theme and combined effort with several local units.

June 5-7 - TBD. Too many options to list. We will have a separate discussion about this important weekend.

August 15-16 - Richmond, VA. Pamplin Military Park. V-J Day 75th. *MAJOR EVENT*. (Portraying 11th Airborne) 
September 18-20 - Virginia Beach, VA. NAS Oceana Air Show. *MAJOR EVENT* Largest Navy airshow in the country. 3 Day event with over 200,000 guests in attendance!

October 1-4 - Toccoa, GA. Currahee Military Weekend. *MAJOR EVENT*

October - TBD. Hampton, VA. (Tentative)

November and December - many options TBD. CBN Christmas Village may wish for us to return again in 2020. We will tackle this in the spring.

UPDATED SCHEDULE

as best as it can be at the moment...

Things are still quite the mess but as states start to reopen we can at least begin to get an idea of what may be on the schedule. Some of these events are pretty solid while others are still unsure and some are even highly unlikely but since they haven’t officially been cancelled or postponed we will leave them on the schedule for now.


July 17-19 - King’s Mountain, NC - World War II Weekend.

    11th Airborne unveiling?


July 24-26 - Enfield, NC - Work/Training Weekend

    Primarily this is to improve the field for the September tactical.


August 15-16 - Pamplin Park Petersburg, VA - V-J Day Anniversary event

    11th Airborne and the Raid on Los Banos
    

August 28-30 - Tank Farm Nokesville, VA

    Possible event - will monitor status of this event and interest.
 
September 4-6 - Woodstock, VA - 75th Anniversary veterans tribute

    Possible participation if personnel available and there is sufficient interest.
 
September 11-13 - Enfield, NC - Road To Rome Tactical

    Italian Front Tactical event. Alternate impression for this event. 1AD, 6th Armored Infantry Regiment. Heavy weapons platoons (Mortars and MGs).


September 18-20 - Oceana NAS Virginia Beach, VA - US Navy Airshow

    At the mercy of the US Navy on this one.


September 18-20 - Ike’s Farm Gettysburg, PA

    Possible alternative to Oceana


October 2-4 - Warbirds Over the Beach

    Rescheduled from May. It will take a lot for this to get cancelled


October 10-11 - Fort Monroe, VA - US Military Timeline

    200 years of US military.


There are other possible events including training events that will likely pop up as we move along. Also it is possible that some of these events will still get cancelled due to logistics of planning them but we will wait and see.
