We arrived Thursday at Toccoa at 1:30 pm.
Kitchen staff: William Philbeck, Ronnie Smith, Steve Early, and Louis Jenkins.
Staff had lunch at Quincey's prior to going to our appointed space.
Site: Thanks to Lynn Rachwell, co-ordinator, we had the vacant lot across from the First Citizens Bank.
Set up achieved within two hours.
Friday:. Breakfast and dinner prepared without problems.
Saturday: was a repeat of Friday. More activities today including a parade and a street fight.
Sunday: fixed breakfast, tore down camp. We drove home afterwards.
Suggestions: no one did KP duty Sunday am. This caused a delay in packing. Paper towel use was extremely heavy. We ran out.
The troops.obviously were not hungry. Several times we sent a runner to let them know the meals were ready, and their response was sporatic.
Thanks: Sgt Frank from the 101st Airborne assisted with meal preparation. Thanks to the men who did KP duty. Thanks to everyone who brought water for the kitchen. Approx half was consumed making coffee, and KP wash water.
Misc: 307th will be rejoining us in the mess, providing they live by the same rules as everyone else who eats with us. If they are not willing to get their meal payment in on time, fail to do at least one meal of KP duty, and not on time for meals, they will be culled from participation. No further protest of anyone will be considered.
Thanks to the men who helped us pack up. One more event for the re-enacting season.
