Guys, we have a lot of events coming up in the next 5 months or so. It's time to start looking at events, planning what you plan to attend and let the Command Section know so we can get you on the manifests and let organizers know what they can expect from C/505.
Coming up in the next 3 months, both Max effort and supported (not including Conneaut in mid August):
At the end of August we have the new event in Elizabethton TN at Sycamore Shoals.
In mid September we have the community Tactical at Enfield. This will be much like Latta, just with no Spectators. We REALLY need to know who is interested so we can work with the other units to make sure this goes off as well as it can. Please sound off if it sounds like a fun weekend for you.
The Week After Enfield, a few are planning to do Ikes Farm at Gettysburg. No battle and no convoy this year, but LH is still on. I need to know ASAP if you are planning to go as registration ends August 1.
Toccoa WW2 Weekend in Early October. This was my favorite event of last year. March Currahee, USO Dance, Town battle, Parade, GREAT airborne museum, veterans galore. UNIT MAX EFFORT.
Oxford Airport, one day Living History, mid October. We will be traveling to a local cemetary and laying flags, but also visiting the grave of one of the 1/505 Pathfinders killed at DDAY, PVT. James Curran.
First Weekend of November, the Hells Highway Tactical at Enfield. This is a hard core three day full immersion event - WITH PYRO. There are no time outs and YOU WILL BE PUSHED. That said, I can't think of a better way for us all to come together, test ourselves and show just what we have learned, but also our Airborne Spirit. We claim to honor the men, well this is as close as we will ever get to living what they did. Please, if you are physically capable, plan on being at this. Let's do this RIGHT.
There are more after these, but these are the ones that are the closest, or require advance notice from command that we will be there. Don't wait around. If you think there is even a chance you can make it to this, LET ME, JIM, OR FRANK KNOW.
That's it for now.
READY! H-MINUS! AATW!
