Waxhaw AAR for the mess:
Arrived Thursday afternoon and began assembly of flies for the 1st Sgt, then the mess.
Equipment:two flies, three M 37 stoves, two table top burners, compliment of LP gas bottles, accompanying cutlery, deep frier, food boxes, seven tables, and four coolers. Coffee maker and generator included. We used refrigerator in the building. Later arrivals included waffle makers.
We made approx $150 for the treasury. Originally bought food for 35 men, which was expensive.
Personnel: Jenkins, Philbeck, and Meyer worked in kitchen entire weekend. KP duty members performed flawlessly.
Menu: golash Friday night, eggs, bacon, biscuits, gravy, grits Saturday am, meatloaf for Saturday lunch, and hamburgers for Saturday pm. Breakfast Sunday consisted of waffles and fried chicken.
Water: all our water stocks were consumed by Saturday evening.
Members served: we served approx 25 of our personnel, and ten Germans. Germans left Sat evening so 25 men served Sat pm and Sun.
Recommendations: every member should bring at least a twelve pack of water for personal consumption. If kitchen furnishes water we will have to bring at least four flats of water.
The new trailer was used this weekend. Had to spend some time straightening it up afterwards Monday and Wednesday, but that is far better than loading and unloading.
Next Waxhaw: already down one man for next event. Hopefully crew attendance will pick up for the next Waxhaw event.
Thanks to all the guys who helped out. Chief, Mongo, and even Maj. Cachia, all pitched in. Thanks to all the men who did KP duty.

The food and kitchen operated as efficiently as possible while missing TWO regulars. Mongo will be missing in June so no steak night. Meat loaf was a big hit again. Chicken and Waffles also a hit. Chief and I just about made too many. KP and volunteers did great. Mess Officer Jenkins did above and beyond with his pain level at an 8 at times. Mongo was awesome once out of bed.

We'll, since Maj Cachia brought up my pain level, I'm going to have a second hip (left) replacement. Went to the surgeon Tuesday for evaluation and he is scheduling me for surgery approx 8-10 weeks out. Should be back on my feet not long afterwards, and back to doing Mess Kitchen in Sept.
Date has been set for July 3rd. Expected to be down for approx 3-4 weeks, then on my feet in Aug and back to doing kitchen duties in Sept.
