AAR-Toccoa Sept. 30-Oct. 3
We arrived at 1200 Thursday afternoon and began setting up camp. It was very warm and we worked slowly.
T sgt Philbeck fixed supper after our kitchen and camp were assembled. Friday morning again T sgt Philbeck provided breakfast. Around Noon Capt. Cachia arrived. Lunch consisted of salami, cheese, and crackers.
Friday evening Mess Sgt Jenkins prepared meat loaf from a secret family recipe. Green beans, mashed potatoes, brown gravy, and French bread topped the menu. Desert consisted of brownies and chocolate pound cake.
Up early Sat morning and prepared scrambled eggs, bacon, grits, and toast. Lunch-hotdogs and potato chips. Supper consisted of cheese burgers and Macaroni salad. Desert was the same as Friday evening.
Sunday breakfast was SOS and bacon. We then packed up at nine am. Home by 12 noon Sunday.
Good- meals on time, KP crews came on deck on schedule. Set up was convenient and sleeping quarters cool.
Bad- restrooms too far away for old pharts. Activities for personnel was limited unless they were involved in Toccooa’s actual program. Lack of military vehicles. We threw out a lot of cooked food.
Recommendations- would like to have more people eating with us. $5.00 a meal is a good price considering cost of food.
Other- many thanks to those who brought water. And thanks to Wayne Arron, and Doc for helping in the kitchen.
Sgt L Jenkins Mess Sgt C/505th
